ABOUT US

Mahila Dakshata Samiti (MDS) is registered under the Societies Registration Act, XXI of 1860, having registration No. 8995, dated 16 January 1978. MDS is a Non Government Organization, non–Party, non-Sectarian National Body of Women. The Samiti zealously works for the cause of Women Empowerment and Child Education & Protection. The Samiti has been playing a key role in spreading awareness among women of their rights at all levels. Ever since its inception, Mahila Dakshata Samiti has striven for establishing a just, equitable and humane order in which there will be no gender discrimination and both men and women will work as equal partners in all spheres of development and progress.

MDS has been accorded ECOSOC “Special Consultative Status” (Ref E/2016/INFIS – page 77),under guidance and efforts of Mrs Suman Krishan Kant in 2016.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to help women and raise their self esteem through a four pronged approach of ‘Health, Education, Equality and Empowerment’, thereby enabling them to lead a life of dignity. It is our endeavor to see every woman educated and empowered. Our effort is to educate impoverished children, impart basic education to them, thus enabling them to get admissions in regular schools. We provide vocational training to girl child / women at Swadhar greha thus making them self-reliant and financially independent.

Our mission is to guide Youth of our country to direct their energies to build this country economically, instead of indulging in Alcoholism, drug abuse, smoking and other narcotic tobacco etc harmful to their mind and body.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

The aims and objectives of Mahila Dakshata Samiti are:

(1) To inculcate the value of human rights, justice, democracy, socialism and secularism among women and make them conscious of their rights and responsibilities.
(2) To develop among women, particularly those of poorer classes, an awareness of their rights and inculcate in them a spirit of self-reliance and independence.
(3) To uphold and safeguard the rights of women as guaranteed by the constitution.
(4) To support, protect and uphold the status, interest, prestige and dignity of women.
(5) To work for
 i) The implementation of the right of equality granted to women to enable them to participate fully and equally with men in every sphere of life.
ii) Effective implementation of progressive social legislation and introduction of such legislation whenever and wherever necessary.
iii) Consumer education and protection.

(6)To impart basic education to underprivileged children, enabling them to get admissions in regular schools.
(7)Spreading awareness about Helath, Hygiene and Environment, Pollution control, And water conservation.
(8)To establish branches of MDS all over India and abroad.
(9) To diffuse knowledge gained by the Samiti by its experience and findings for the benefit of all sections of society.
