Mahila Dakshata Samiti has ECOSOC status with the United Nations. MDS is well represented on the international level. The Samiti participates in various meetings of the United Nations, ESP The Sessions of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and other international forums besides International Women’s Day Celebrations abroad.

Our Vice President Dr. Pam Rajput and General Secretary Prem Ahluwalia have been representing the Samiti at various international conferences in USA, Europe and Asia for several years. Pam Rajput attended the UN Commission on the Status of Women in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 and was Panelist in many Workshops. She participated in the Strategy Meetings of Women Major Group and also Bricks Feminist Watch in New York. In March 2017, she also participated in the Asia Pacific Civil Society Forum on Sustainable Development. Pam also represented MDS in the civil society meeting during the NDB 2nd Annual meeting in New Delhi. She participated and spoke in the National Consultation on Goal 5 organized by NITI Aayog, RIS and UN in April 2017. Last year Prem Ahluwalia was instrumental in affiliating MDS with International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG). Prem also represents MDS at the International Women’s Day celebrations held in Berlin, Germany in March every year. In 2012 she was given the highest honor with an award for her ‘Lifetime Contribution to the Women’s Movement’. She was selected among the Ministers and other delegates present from all over the world. The award was received in the presence of India’s Minister. In April Prem was invited by Indian women group to speak on the status of women in India. In May 2017 she participated in the UNWTO Executive Council meeting in Madrid, Spain.

Prem Ahluwalia, National General Secretary, has been participating at various meetings of UN, UNWTO in various countries. She has also been representing MDS at the International Women’s Day Celebrations in Berlin, Germany for the last few years. In 2012 she was given the highest honor with an award for her ‘Lifetime Contribution to the Women’s Movement’. She was selected among the Ministers and other delegates present from all over the world. The award was received in the presence on India’s Minister. The events received international coverage both in the electronic and print media. From time to time, Prem Ahluwalia represents the Samiti at various international conferences in USA, Europe, Asia and the rest of the world. She also meets NRIs and other women organizations abroad to spread the message of Mahila Dakshata Samiti, exchange views and look into their problems.
